In an age where technology can reproduce any prototype and manipulate it beyond all recognition, we are increasingly searching for “authentic experiences”. As a result, marketing experts are going to ever-greater lengths to stress a product’s real or apparent “originality”.
Today’s styles often focus on fashions from years gone by and there is a sweeping trend for all things retro – for the experiences and music immediately associated with the past. Locations and furniture that are either rugged or inspired by nature, used furniture, vintage clothes, patinas and used-look shoes and jeans are all experiencing huge popularity in modern society. But we can only adopt and enjoy a lifestyle based on such trends if we admit to ourselves that its apparent authenticity is purely artificial and nothing more than an illusion.
We can reconstruct any era and reproduce any mood we like. The dividing line between “original” and “fake” no longer exists. It is up to us to decide if we are really seeing what we think we’re seeing – and if we are going to suspend our disbelief and go along for the ride.

With this carpet, the yarn types were changed during tufting (Antron® carpet fibre). This process creates a random surface structure, which achieves the required used look effect. With subsequent dyeing, it was possible to reinforce this impression by exploiting the different colour affinities of the yarns.

This dry, rough and matt tufted fabric with its variety of staple fibre types (Antron® carpet fibre) captures the colour and feel of natural lichen and moss-covered stone and soil surfaces.

Real fur is replaced by a 1/12 Scroll Tuft ”Tipshear” with soft, ultrafine yarns (Antron® carpet fibre) of varying thickness and lustre in this perfect imitation Persian carpet.

A new take on a classic, cross-stitch embroidered sampler incorporating a hand-embroidered, tufted chequerboard (Antron® carpet fibre). The background is underpinned by a red thread.
